Ken Teixeira began practicing Buddhism in the late 1970's and pursued studies primarily in the Zen schools.. After his career in computer software design wound down around the turn of the century, he began hosting the meditation community, Clear Bell Meditation (www.clearbellmeditation.org). He speaks at Unitarian-Universalist churches, Secular Humanist groups and Buddhist groups in southeastern Florida. Ken became host of Clear Bell in 2015 after the departure of its founder, the Ven. Bupsahng Monk Chaplain. Mr. Teixeira and the Ven. Chaplain founded and built the Indian River Zendo in Jensen Beach, Florida in 2015.
Ken continues with his interest in reconciling the Buddha's precocious discoveries with the findings of modern science. His first book, Buddhism in Simple English reduces the complexities of historic religious Buddhism to modern everyday terms and offers an easily-understood practice. His upcoming book draws from the work of evolutionary biologist Edward O. Wilson. It details the biological basis of human conflict and offers a path for extracting us from the myriad global conflicts in which we become embroiled.
Above all, however, Ken wishes, for every human being on the planet, peace and liberation from their slave-driving Selves.
