Abby Rapoport's work focuses on the relationship between communities, media and storytelling. She is the cofounder and publisher of Stranger’s Guide, a National Magazine Award winning publication dedicated to place-based storytelling from around the world. She sits on the board of numerous non-profits and philanthropies including the Society for the Preservation of Texas Music, Freedom of Information Foundation of Texas and TYPE Media. Abby began her career as a political reporter at the Texas Tribune (where she was the online outlet’s first employee), and was subsequently a staff writer on politics and policy for the Texas Observer and The American Prospect before serving as Acting Publisher for the Texas Observer. Her writing has also appeared in Glamour, The National Journal and The New Republic among other places.
