Join Sandra Waddock from the International Humanistic Management Association and David Sloan Wilson for a Webinar on October 18th

Please join the International Humanistic Management Association at noon Eastern on October 18, 2024 for an exciting and stimulating Intellectual Shamans webinar with David Sloan Wilson, SUNY Distinguished Professor Emeritus of Biology and Anthropology at Binghamton University and President of ProSocial World, a nonprofit organization whose purpose is "to consciously evolve a world that works for all". ProSocial World is a worldwide hub for the study and application of Generalized Darwinism, including a New Paradigm Coalition for economics, business and management.

David will speak on Generalized Darwinism as a New Foundation for Humanistic Management. The business and management professions suffer from two major problems. First, they are a vast archipelago with many "islands" of theory and practice and little communication among islands. Second, to the degree that there is an integrated theoretical framework it is neoclassical economics, which is deeply problematic. Against this background, Generalized Darwinism (GD) emerges as a solution to both problems. GD is an expansion of evolutionary thinking beyond genetic evolution to include other variation/selection/replication processes, such as human cultural evolution and computerized evolutionary algorithms (AI). GD provides a unifying theoretical framework for understanding all organizations and provides a much stronger justification for humanistic management practices than the neoclassical economic paradigm.

Biosketch: David Sloan Wilson is SUNY Distinguished Professor Emeritus of Biology and Anthropology at Binghamton University and president of ProSocial World, a nonprofit organization whose purpose is "to consciously evolve a world that works for all". He has made foundational contributions to evolutionary theory and its expansion beyond biology to include all human-related subjects. His books include This View of Life: Completing the Darwinian Revolution and Prosocial: Using Evolution to Build Productive, Equitable, and Collaborative Groups (with Paul W.B. Atkins and Steven C. Hayes).

ProSocial World is a worldwide hub for the study and application of GD, including a New Paradigm Coalition for economics, business and management. Please email hello@prosocial.world to learn about its many opportunities for engagement.
